Stumpwork Box

Stumpwork box an adaptation of Jane Nicholas’ design. Stitched by Sheila Sakraida.

This box is an adaptation of Jane Nicholas’ stumpwork embroidery. My daughter, Jenny, substituted a tulip for a pansy on the flower side. We re-assigned colors that would be more in line with her bridal party. The size and scale of the piece is the same as the original. I was still stitching a few days before the wedding and realized that the instructions and pattern for the snail were in my book in Utah. The wedding was in New Jersey. So, I whipped up a caterpillar for the stem.
